This past summer, I installed a laminate floor in our home. I love working with my hands and power tools! For this DIY endeavor, Bob added a new power tool to my growing collection…a table saw. Why? Because the most crucial aspect of a building project is the ability to cut straight lines. What would be the response to your contractor, if he explained that he would use crooked bricks and twisted two-by-fours in laying the foundation of your dream home? You get my drift…don’t you?

Christianity in America is in a new era, my friends. Our faith becomes less and less “tolerated” every day. The Word of God, which is absolute truth, speaks volumes to Jesus Christ’s followers. God commands (not suggests) that we…

15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

Absolute and relative truth are direct opposites. Absolute means free from imperfection and complete. While relative is dependent upon external conditions. In other words, absolute truth does not change and relative truth is fluid…it can move depending upon it’s nature, size, etc. ( The Bible is absolutely true. God’s Words don’t change with every whim of fallen human nature.

This word “accurately” means to “analyze correctly” or “cut straight”. Christians do not have the luxury of remaining in the dark regarding their faith or God Himself. You can know the God of the Bible intimately. His character, nature and ways are very clearly seen in His word of truth. My concern is the lack of diligence in the church (including myself) to be obedient to God’s command. We must cry out to Jesus, pleading for a heart that desires to be zealous for and not ashamed to stand firm and hold to the traditions we were taught in the Bible. from 2 Thessalonians 2:15

BTW, the floor came out great! I cut those planks straight and it shows in the finished project! When you present yourself to God as a workman, will you stand unashamed?

If you have never done an inductive Bible study, it is a great place to start your journey of cutting straight the Bible. More about inductive study in the days to come.
