Discipleship In…Discipleship Out

Have you heard the phrase “garbage in, garbage out?” I remember learning this in a computer programming class in college. If you put bad information in, bad information will come out. The neat thing about this phrase is you can alter it to obtain a positive result.

There is a verse continually running through my mind these days. I can’t seem to shake it, so I believe the Lord Jesus is stirring my heart for a purpose.

“The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses,
entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2

Do you see it in the above? The positive spin on GIGO? It is to listen to the words God has passed down to us and pass those treasures on to others who will also pass them down and so on and so on.

That’s what I call “discipleship in, discipleship out”. In the ever changing landscape of world events we live in, it is more vital that we be intentional about discipleship.
Our first priority is to become a disciple of the Lord Jesus. The word disciple means to be a follower. How will we learn to follow Jesus today? Through intimate time with the Father through His never changing and inerrant Word…the Bible.

The next stage of DIDO is to pray that the Lord would lead you to a mentor. Someone trusted to share wise counsel with you from the Scriptures. Finally, it’s your turn. Pray again, and ask the Lord to direct your path to a younger brother or sister in the faith.
There you have it! The ministry of multiplication!
