God is Sovereign. One of his names we see over and over in Isaiah is “Lord of Hosts” or “Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” Isaiah 14:24, 27 CSB – 24 The LORD of Armies has sworn: As I have purposed, so it will be; as I have planned it, so it will happen. … 27 The LORD of Armies himself has planned it; therefore, who can stand in its way? It is his hand that is outstretched, so who can turn it back? Eight years ago I had no idea that I would go to the doctor to get a “game plan” for bone spurs in my neck and come out with thyroid cancer and imminent surgery. I had no idea that a successful cancer surgery would turn to a hypothyroid “storm” that sent my autoimmune disease into ultra-high gear . . .affecting my heart, my brain, my lungs, my esophagus. I had no idea then I would be where I am now. But God is sovereign. He is in control. What he purposes, he accomplishes. He has a plan. And it is good. God had a plan for the demoniac in MarkĀ  5. God had a plan for John the Baptist. We see God’s plan unfold throughout scripture. God’s sovereignty is such assurance to me.
