Psa 20:1-9 ESV
1 May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion!
3 May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices!
4 May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans!
Precious Father God,
You are the God of all creation, and yet You hear our cries for help. You know our most intimate thoughts and longings and desires. You see us. You know us. You love us.
You are not powerless. You answer our cries. You know what is best, and You act.
5 May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions!
6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright.
9 O LORD, save the king! May he answer us when we call.
Lord, we can trust You to always do what is best. We can trust You because You have revealed Your character and Your ways in Your Word. You do not lie. You do not change. You are the same, yesterday, today, and forever. What You have purposed, will stand.
What a gift of mercy that we are not left to depend upon our own strength, our own knowledge, our own strategies. They are insufficient, inconsistent. You are God. You are sufficient. You are enough.
God, forgive us for trusting in lesser things to satisfy us. Forgive us for thinking that You will not act for our best. Forgive us for thinking that You don’t care. They are all such horrid lies when You have plainly shown us Your truth in Your Word.
Thank You for the gift of repentance. Thank You for saving us, and making us new. Thank You for giving us Your Word and Your truth, so we can fill our minds with Your truth and drive out the awful lies. Please open the hearts and eyes of those we love who do not yet see Your truth. Free them from Satan’s snare.
God, we pray for strength and endurance for those who are serving You in hard places. Be their “enough” in the loneliness and the discouragement. Lord, who else will You send to serve with them?
We love You, our God, our Shepherd, our Savior.
Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are in Syria.
