1O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled.
3 My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O LORD–how long?
Precious Father, my Shepherd,
It’s Christmastime, and everywhere and everyone looks so happy and carefree — but not me. It feels like You must be mad at me, but I KNOW that You are not. I depend on Your grace, Lord, for I really have no other place to turn. And I don’t know how long this will last. . .
4 Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise?
6 I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes.
God, I am so incredibly tired. Your steadfast love and faithfulness promise me that You will never leave me nor forsake me. I am here. I submit to You. I will obey You. Strengthen me according to Your Word; give me life according to Your Word. O, Father, what would I do without Your Word!? Your Word is my life and my hope!
8 Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.
9 The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.
So, get out, all despairing thoughts! God is my hope and my strength.
Get out, all lies that everyone but me has a charmed life — God is my portion and my strength, and has numbered and appointed every one of my days for His purpose.
Get out, feelings of abandonment and isolation –God has promised to never leave me nor forsake me. He has counted all of my tossings, put my tears in his bottle, written them in His book (Psalm 56). God is my Immanuel, and His steadfast love and faithfulness promises that it will ever be so.
God, You hear every cry, You see every tear. I am Your child. You have given a difficult assignment, but You are my Father and my Savior, and I will do whatever You ask, and depend on Your strength.
You are my Sovereign, and I belong to You,
