Monday Prayer 11.13.17

Psa 11:1 In the LORD I take refuge; how can you say to my soul,

“Flee like a bird to your mountain, 2 for behold, the wicked bend the bow; they have fitted their arrow to the string to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart; 3 if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

4 The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.
5 The LORD tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.
6 Let him rain coals on the wicked; fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the LORD is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.

Holy, Almighty God,
You are holy. You are Almighty. You are God. You are in control. Even when things seem such a mess — weather, politics, wars, crime, broken relationships, hurting people, cancer, illness, financial trouble. No matter what happens in this world, You are still God.
And I can take refuge in You. Nothing will happen to me that is not permitted by You. You will never leave me. You have appointed my days. I will not encounter or experience anything alone. You are here. You are Immanuel.

Lord, I want all the earth to know that You are God. You are righteous. You love righteousness. When adversity comes and I trust in You as my refuge, rather than running and hiding like a bird hiding in the mountains from the hunter’s arrow –that is how You display Your power, Your sufficiency, Your goodness, Your righteousness. I can’t live without You. I don’t want to . . .

Thank You for being my refuge and strength. Thank You for not ever compromising Your righteousness. Because You do not change and You never lie, I can trust You completely. Always. Forever.

You are almighty God. And I belong to You.

amen
