Psa 61:1-Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer;
2 from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,
3 for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.
4 Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings!
5 For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
What a privilege that You hear my prayer! I am Your child, and from wherever I call to You, You hear me. In sadness, in exhaustion, in frustration, in confusion, in joy– You want to hear all of me.
In coming to You I receive wisdom, comfort, protection, restoration, forgiveness. Everything is from You. You are the source of everything. You are in control of everything. You are everything . . .
6 Prolong the life of the king; may his years endure to all generations!
7 May he be enthroned forever before God; appoint steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over him!
You, O Lord, are in control of kings and governments and authorities. Even the wicked ones. You accomplish Your purpose, and none can thwart You. I pray for our elected officials. I pray they would be saved. I pray they would know You, and long to serve You. I pray that they would rule well and fairly.
And for those rulers who are publicly opposed to You, just as You did with Nebuchadnezzar and Saul of Tarsus, You can break through their hearts and their minds and show them who You are. You are the Mighty God.
8 So will I ever sing praises to your name, as I perform my vows day after day.
Thank You, Father, for today. Thank You for another day to obey You and to worship You. Thank You for being my all-sufficient Father.
