I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine…
Song of Solomon 6:3a (ESV)
Although Jesus is never mentioned in the Song of Solomon, He is pictured all the way through! He desires a love relationship with us that will thrill and delight us. Believe it or not, we are a delight and a thrill to Him! Zephaniah 3:17 reveals that “the Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty One who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.”
Can you imagine that the One we sinned against and rejected sings over us? And loudly! He wants the world to know that we belong to Him. Can you imagine His delight when we let the world know that He belongs to us?
My six-year-old grandson’s favorite song is “In the Eye of the Storm” and boy does he ever belt that song out. Loudly. It is a precious sight to see this sweet child sing to the Lord. He doesn’t understand a lot of theology, but he understands that God loves him. Maybe we complicate things just a little too much. Let’s opt for a childlike faith that rejoices over the One who rejoices over us.
Living It Out – Sing to the Lord a new song! Take a walk and sing to Him of your love and delight over being His child. Choose to believe that He wants to spend time with you in relationship, not dictatorship. He’s the Lover of your soul!
